Inviting Student Photography Submissions For Exhibit About Our Diverse American Identity
http://imaginingamerica.org/2015/03/10/inviting-student-photography-submissions-for-off-broadway-exhibit-about-our-diverse-american-identity/

Students, submit your photographs for a virtual exhibit about our diverse American identity! Considering the complicated DNA made visible by the mapping of the human genome, we invite student photography about your family’s cultural roots and how you think of your own diverse American identity in terms of race and ethnicity.

ASSIGNMENT: Self Introduction

This is posted for my Digital Photography class for the Self Introduction BLOG assignment

FIRST POST
Introduce yourself
What kind of camera do you have?
Write about your goals for taking this class
What kind of experience you have with photography?
What kind of photography do you like most?

Favourite or fantasy vacation spot?

Introduction
I am Professor Pease, MFA (Visual Studies). I am a visual artist working in photography, digital media, and mixed media. Sometimes I raise 'Sea-Monkeys' but they don't always make it, being knocked over by the cats, or other catastrophes. I have 2.5 cats. They know how I feel. They don't really care, but they know. I love Geo-caching and adventuring in the Jeep.

Camera
I use a Nikon D200. It is already out of date, and I need a newer Full-Frame camera with a higher resolution. The D200 also has a 'red-shift' problem.

Goals
One of my goals for teaching this class is to teach students the technical and artistic tools to give them a personal voice in their photography. There is a lot to learn, and this will empower each person to make decisions, control the camera, and be more responsible for their work.

Experience
I have always been shooting, even as a little kid. I like the social-documentary style photography, street photography, and observational work. I also like to create scenes to be photographed. I have never liked shooting weddings, but sometimes that was a required evil. I have been working on a big project of photographing Roadside Memorials, or also called "Descansos". Eventually I plan to submit the work to be published in a commercial book. My blog: http://takko-descansos.blogspot.com/.

I also like having my work on Google Earth/Maps (http://www.panoramio.com/user/372231?with_photo_id=3241825). Sometimes my work is seen on Flickr.com and requested to be used for a variety of purposes.

Favorite Photography
I love some of the classic photographers like David Hockney, Annie Liebovitz, Diane Arbus, and Elliot Erwitt. I also like some rougher darker styles of art and photography, with richer imagery, surface, and ideas. Gilbert and George (http://www.oaktreefinepress.com/art/index.asp) Other artists like Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and way to many to really list.

Vacation Spot
I LOVE traveling in Baja California/Sur, Mexico. When people ask me where I go, I answer, "yes" because i really traverse both states (Baja California and Baja California Sur) zig zagging the peninsula
and having all sorts of adventures. It's difficult to explain, and sometimes I can't even photograph because I feel there is no way to express how amazing the experience is. I have my Jeep, and it's ready for some rough unknown roads.
